Manchester United may well have only lost 4-3 away at Bayern Munich but the result could have been even worse if it wasn’t for a late fightback.
The Red Devils scored twice in the last five minutes to stage an unlikely comeback but the frustration will be how easily they allowed Mathys Tel to score for the German side to make it 4-2.
United were, truth be told, at times chasing shadows and it did seem like the German side were toying with Erik ten Hag’s side.
Gabby Agbonlahor, speaking on talkSPORT, believed that United lacked fight throughout the game and were easy to play through, it’s hard to disagree with the former Aston Villa striker.

Agbonlahor’s verdict
“There was just no graft! The midfield and the defence were terrible, getting played through far too easily,” the former Villa striker said. “It was just so easy. I felt sorry for some of them. They were chasing shadows.”
The Red Devils were struggling to keep up to speed with the German side and the danger posed by Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala caused United enough issues on the night.
The midfield was porous and it became patently clear that some, who really should be fighting for their United future, were coasting through the game.

It was rather eye-opening when Scott McTominay was brought on from the bench and really did not put in the effort required from the substitute.
A clip, in particular, seemed to irritate United fans the most. After the midfielder lost the ball in the middle of the park, the Scotsman failed to track back and seemingly looked very slow and lethargic when having to track back.
The midfielder looked destined to leave the club this summer but the club rejected a £30 million offer from West Ham United according to the Manchester Evening News and it seems the club have made a mistake in not accepting the offer made by David Moyes’ side.
