Alvaro Fernandez has been tipped for a big future at Manchester United after signing on loan with Preston North End.
The Spaniard’s loan move to Deepdale was confirmed on Tuesday as he became the second player to leave Manchester United on loan this summer, following Dean Henderson.
Fernandez also signed a new contract at Manchester United which runs to 2024, and United also have an option to extend this by a further year to 2025.
The former Real Madrid youth talent won United’s reserve team player of the year award last season.

‘Fantastic’ Manchester United future
Preston manager Ryan Lowe is excited by the deal and believes Fernandez will be a big player for Manchester United in years to come.
Lowe told the club’s website: “He’s a fantastic asset to us. He’s going to be a fantastic football player for Manchester United, but we need Álvaro to help us in our Championship campaign for us to help him to hopefully one day make his Premier League debut for Manchester United.”
He also talked about Fernandez’s qualities and praised his ability to go past opponents, commenting: “He gets at people and he can get past them with high energy.”
Lowe believes Fernandez will be a good option for Preston to have from left wing-back, along with former United youth talent Robbie Brady, now 30.
Fernandez was really unlucky not to go on United’s pre-season tour, but he may return from loan to find himself a couple of steps closer to the first team.
Alex Telles faces an uncertain future at the club, while Brandon Williams has been linked with an exit to Brighton, per the Mirror.
If both players leave, Fernandez could get into the mix next season – providing he performs strongly on loan.
