Prem boss points out Marcus Rashford sending off as he hits out at Liverpool decision

Thomas Frank felt Wataru Endo should have been sent off during Brentford’s 3-0 Premier league defeat at Liverpool while comparing the incident to Marcus Rashford’s midweek red card.

All we ask for is a little consistency. Unfortunately, those with a whistle in their mouths appear to have other ideas, Marcus Rashford’s ludicrous red card which sparked that Champions League collapse at Copenhagen made all the more baffling by Wataru Endo escaping similar punishment for an almost identical challenge in the Europa just 24 hours later.

Liverpool’s Japan international had Lady Luck on his side when Brentford arrived at Anfield too. Somehow avoiding an early bath – and even a yellow card – despite a four-minute VAR review.

And Frank, who was full of praise for his side despite the lopsided scoreline, was quick to bring up the Rashford incident as he was left bemoaning another bewildering afternoon of officiating.

Marcus Rashford red card looks even more silly now

“These days, with the VAR and the way (games) are being reffed, then I think it’s a red,” Frank tells Sky Sports.

“If you look at the slow motion footage that you use, then it’s clear studs on leg and he’s definitely going over the ball with too much force, Endo on Christian (Norgaard). And then you can look at the four bloody marks on his leg. With that in mind, I just want consistency.”

Unfortutely for Frank, and Manchester United’s number ten for that matter, referring across the continent appears to have about as much ‘consistency’ as M Night Shyamalan’s filmography, albeit with less Sixth Senses’ and more Olds’ and Last Airbenders’.

Frank cites Rashford example

“These examples I’m giving now – I don’t think they’re red cards – but the way it is now, then they’re definitely reds. The Curtis Jones (one) against Tottenham. The Rashford against FC Copenhagen. The Josh Dasilva one for us against Newcastle,” Frank adds.

“And then this. The level they want to put it into, then it’s a red.”
