Predicted Manchester United line-up v Chelsea

Manchester United head to Chelsea this weekend and Cristiano Ronaldo will not be involved.

Let’s focus instead on the players who will be, with United looking for a statement away victory after an impressive home win against Tottenham midweek.

This is the second time Erik ten Hag has gone up against Graham Potter this season, having lost at home to Brighton on the opening day.

Potter has had a steady start at Chelsea, unbeaten so far, while Ten Hag’s United are also taking shape and looking strong.

Predicted Manchester United line-up v Chelsea

Erik ten Hag has already shown us this season when he likes a team, he will stick with it.

After such a strong win in midweek, we are predicting Ten Hag will stick with the same starting line-up which defeated Tottenham.

This means David de Gea in goal, with a back four of Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw.

In midfield he will stick with Casemiro, Fred, and Bruno Fernandes after they played so well together in the last match.

Attacking options are more limited, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony will form the front three.

There are questions Ten Hag will ask, including whether all of his starters are 100 per cent after Wednesday night.

It will be a real temptation to bring Christian Eriksen into midfield, while Scott McTominay is also fresh.

This would be the fourth game in a row Casemiro and Fred have started together.

A chance to rotate will come against Sheriff Tiraspol next week, and we expect Ten Hag to go with the XI against Chelsea which won so convincingly against Tottenham.
