Portuguese media react to Bruno Fernandes performance v Slovakia

Bruno Fernandes was on fire for Portugal on Friday night as he assisted two goals with Portugal securing Euros qualification.

Bruno Fernandes and his Portugal teammates made it seven wins from seven as they secured qualification for the European Championships next summer.

Fernandes assisted Goncalo Ramos’ opener and then the third goal too which was scored by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Despite two assists being impressive, this didn’t quite do him justice as he had a total of four big chances created. With five key passes and 78 touches, Fernandes had a creative masterclass in the number 10 position.

Portuguese react to ‘superb’ Bruno Fernandes v Slovakia

ZeroZero reported on the match saying: “Bruno Fernandes, the best on the field for zero, commented on the qualification of the national team for the Euro, after the 3-2 victory over Slovakia, which had two assists from the Manchester United player”.

Meanwhile A Bola depicted the events of the game live as they went on, upon Bruno’s first assist they said: “Goncalo Ramos successfully heads in the direction of the goal, at the spearhead, following Bruno Fernandes’ perfect cross.”

A Bola then wrote on his second assist: “Cristiano Ronaldo hits the nets, responding in a fantastic way to the superb assistance of (who else?) Bruno Fernandes.”

Tribuna added: “Bruno, with class, took an opponent out of the way and crossed with built-in GPS, a pass that floated through the sky of Porto, close to Maia, where he was born. In the box was Gonçalo Ramos, who headed for the seventh goal in nine international appearances.”

Positive signs for Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag will no doubt have been watching on in glee during the Portugal v Slovakia game at his captain once again tearing it up.

Fernandes always performs incredibly well for Portugal, and perhaps Ten Hag should take a note from Roberto Martinez’s notebook.

Here Fernandes plays as a number 10, not on the wing, not in centre midfield, but behind the striker where he can best impact the game.
