Plzen boss raves about ‘world class’ Man Utd players, and takes a dig at Ruben Amorim’s side

Manchester United came from behind to win 2-1 against Plzen, scoring a much-needed victory for Ruben Amorim.

Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils secured a first away win in the Europa League this season, on the third attempt.

Plzen competed well against Manchester United, showing why they have been unbeaten at home in all competitions this season.

United inflicted Plzen’s first Europa League defeat, while moving up to end the night seventh place in the Europa League table.

Plzen boss praises United

Plzen manager Miroslav Koubek, 73, had described the match against Manchester United as the pinnacle of his long career.

Koubek was proud of his team – and noted the difference being the high calibre level of substitutes open to Ruben Amorim.

After falling 1-0 down, United brought Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Antony, Manuel Ugarte and Alejandro Garnacho on, a high value group of players.

£64 million striker Rasmus Hojlund scored the two goals to turn the game around, making it five goals in his last five appearances for Ruben Amorim.

Koubek told iSport: “He sent world-class players there who made the game more exciting for him.

“Our options are a bit more limited in this regard. United gained ground after the substitution.”

Plzen boss takes dig at United

While Miroslav Koubek was complimentary of the world class players Manchester United could call on, he was not blown away by the Red Devils.

The Plzen boss feels his side had a real chance to come away with something, and said that Manchester United did not deliver a ‘world class’ performance despite the quality the side possess.

He commented: “We are disappointed, we deserved at least a point. But I am proud of the team. The guys gave everything they had, they made it very difficult for the opponent.

“The opponent certainly values ​​the win a lot, we value our performance, it was a beautiful match.

“It wasn’t like a world class opponent was pouring four or five goals on us, we resisted heroically.”
