Lisandro Martinez has been announced to be out injured for an extended period of time by Manchester United.

The Argentine defender is said to have re-aggrevated his metatarsal injury which he sustained in April.

The aggravation is believed to have occurred against Arsenal, but Lisandro Martinez pushed through the pain barrier to play.

He has now been out of the squad for the last week though and could now face two months on the sidelines according to Simon Peach.

When asked about the growing injury list, Erik ten Hag unleashed a scathing response on players being overworked.

Ten Hag unhappy with players having such a heavy workload

Speaking in his pre-Palace press conference, Ten Hag was questioned on his sides growing injury list.

He responded via MEN: “We already did, we already expanded the squad this season because we make the reason clear. We had a World Cup in the middle of the season, we had a longer season, we had to play a longer season as well, with FA Cup. A shorter break.

“Every time the schedule is expanding, the load on the players is too much, it’s such a great overload. Many colleagues of mine have pointed to that and I have pointed to that as well.

“But it keeps going. We keep expanding the schedule. Anywhere, it won’t stop. Players can’t deal anymore with this overload and I think that’s what you say in this squad at the moment.”

Sergio Reguilon injured as well

Signed as a replacement for the two injured left-backs, now the guy signed to cover them is also injured Simon Peach also confirmed.

This leaves Erik ten Hag with probably just Sofyan Amrabat as his sole option for the position.

It seems like the United squad can’t catch a break at the moment which will have the club staff questioning why, and how can this be solved.

In terms of injuries it does feel like one step forward and one step back.

Hopefully the tide begins to turn as this is incredibly unsustainable
