Carrick oversaw a sensational performance in the final Manchester derby of the season, with Man Utd comfortably beating Manchester City 2-0 at Old Trafford.
United’s win over Manchester City was the first match that Carrick had taken charge of as interim head coach after Ruben Amorim was sacked as the club’s head coach.
Carrick made it back-to-back Premier League wins in his Old Trafford reign at the weekend, with United securing a huge result against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Speaking after United’s win over Arsenal, Peter Schmeichel addressed the criticism that United legends have faced over their calls for the so-called ‘DNA’ of the club.
However, the 62-year-old insisted that it was hard not to admit that the Man Utd DNA was visible in the way that the Red Devils performed against the Gunners.

“People are sick and tired of listening to us, all former players talking about the ‘Manchester United DNA,’” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“But that’s what it was. It was with the Manchester United DNA. You know, you turn the game quickly, counterattack.
“You go very direct, you take chances. You’re not just [sitting] back and, you know, trying to absorb whatever pressure and then hope for something.”

Schmeichel suggested that he could see that Michael Carrick’s side were showing their ability to “create something” during the Manchester City match this month.
The former United and Denmark star saw the same pattern repeated against Arsenal, but he admitted the Gunners were far better than Man City with their display.

“No, it was every time, you know, you win the ball, you are actually attempting to create something and very much so in the Man City game, a little bit yesterday,” Schmeichel said.
“But I think that was because Arsenal, I thought they played really, really well.”
United climbed to fourth place after their result at the Emirates and Carrick’s men will return to Premier League action against Fulham on Sunday afternoon.
