There are plenty of new faces in the Premier League this season, with those signing for Manchester United under more pressure than others.
Ineos made slight changes to their approach in the transfer market this year. While there is still emphasis on signing younger players, Manchester United prioritised players with Premier League experience, as seen with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Cunha and Mbeumo scored 37 goals in the Premier League between them last season, which is an impressive tally considering United’s first team managed a combined total of 44 goals.
However, United are not the only Premier League club to strengthen the attacking department ahead of the 2025/26 season. No 9s and N10s have been the talk of the summer.
Chelsea will be relying on Liam Delap and Joao Pedro for goals, Arsenal won the race for Viktor Gyokeres and United have revamped their entire forward line.
Liverpool spent big on Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike, who will be under pressure to deliver in a season they are defending the league title. They are also in trying to lure Alexander Isak away from Newcastle before the transfer deadline.
Peter Crouch backs Benjamin Sesko to shine
Former England striker turned podcaster Peter Crouch is backing Benjamin Sesko to hit the ground running at United.
Sesko left RB Leipzig for United in a £74 million deal and could make his debut against Arsenal this weekend.
The Slovenia international scored 21 goals in 45 games for Leipzig last season and he is the new signing that excites Crouch most.
“The favourites for the Golden Boot will be Alexander Isak, if he gets his situation sorted out, Erling Haaland and Mo Salah, the same old faces,” Crouch told Mirror Football.
“But out of the new faces, Sesko is the one that I like watching. I’m excited by him. There’s still the fact that he hasn’t played in the Premier League and that is something that you have to look at.
“Can he settle straight away? But he’s the player that excites me the most out of the new signings.”
Viktor Gyokeres comparison
Sesko will be compared to Gyokeres throughout the season, but Crouch believes it will be the new United striker who hits the ground running in his new surroundings.
Arsenal paid £64 million for the former Coventry City star, who scored an incredible 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting CP last season. Gyokoeres was heavily linked with a move to United prior to his summer move to the Emirates.
“Obviously he’s a proven goal scorer. I know someone who worked with him when he was in England previously,” the ex-Liverpool striker said of Gyokeres.
“It strikes me that Sesko is the man to hit the ground running. You just never know. If he gets a couple of goals then he’ll be full of confidence, he could go on a mad run because he’s more than capable of it.”
United take on Arsenal this weekend, meaning there is a chance Gyokeres and Sesko could face off for the first time.
