Paul Scholes has reflected on a moment during his playing career at Manchester United when he was left surprised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Norwegian caused a problem for one of his teammates.
In the glory days, under Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United had a dressing room full of winners.
Ruben Amorim is currently trying to restore United to its former glories, but Sir Jim Ratcliffe knows it will take time and plenty of patience to achieve that.
United started the 2025/26 season slowly, but they are currently on a four-match unbeaten run in the Premier League following a 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last weekend.
The only way to climb up the Premier League table is by winning football matches, though. United can get back to winning ways when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

While results are not what they used to be, United fans enjoy listening to dressing room stories from former players, which is why so many podcasts are launching and becoming popular.

Paul Scholes shocked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Paul Scholes has reflected on how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer caused havoc for a highly-rated former Arsenal and Chelsea defender, and he doesn’t have any recollection of any other players doing the same.
Scholes spent his entire professional playing career at United, spanning 19 years in the senior team, after graduating from the academy as a member of the Class of ’92. He played with many world-class players, including Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo.
For 11 of those years, Solskjaer was his teammate and they won six Premier League titles together as well as the Treble in 1999.
However, on this week’s episode of the Stick To Football podcast, the panel celebrated Gary Neville’s induction to the Premier League Hall of Fame.
They spoke about other full-backs when Ashley Cole’s name came up in conversation.
Scholes revealed that Solskjaer was the only player he’s ever seen cause Cole a problem during his time at Chelsea.
“I’ve only seen one person give Ashley Cole a tough time,” Scholes said.
“Ole Gunnar, it was Chelsea away one year, do you remember?”
Sadly, the conversation moved on, and Neville didn’t follow up with further insight.
Cole was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame last year, making him the first full-back on the list.
Ashley Cole names Cristiano Ronaldo as toughest opponent
Cole named four of his toughest opponents last year in an interview with The Mirror.
There was no place for Solskjaer, but the first name mentioned was Ronaldo.
“Over the years, Cristiano Ronaldo and I had some mighty battles and we have a mutual respect for each other,” Cole said, as cited by Give Me Sport. “He came to the Premier League as a little bit of an unknown, but he soon understood what it took to be a top player.
“He was willing to learn and adapt. He wanted to be the best player in the world and he came a machine.
“He had everything. He could dribble, he could sprint behind, he could leap and jump and head a ball, he could go inside, he could go outside. So I say he always gave me nightmares, but you try to work each other out and we got the best of each other at times. Whenever I hear his name or see his face, I always think of when he made me do the splits!”
The other four players mentioned by Cole were Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott and Raheem Sterling.
