Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has now had his say on the future of Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford amid the Barcelona star’s loan spell at the Camp Nou.
Marcus Rashford lifted the La Liga title at the Camp Nou on Sunday after Barcelona defeated rivals Real Madrid 2-0, with the Red Devils talent making a real impact.
The 28-year-old on-loan Manchester United star opened the scoring from a free-kick early in the match before Ferran Torres put Barcelona 2-0 up against Real Madrid.
Rashford has been able to secure regular playing time under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick in the 2025-26 season after leaving Old Trafford on loan last summer.

Marcus Rashford evidently does not want to return to Man Utd – There is no way back for him surely?!

Paul Scholes firmly rules out Barcelona star Marcus Rashford ever playing for Man Utd again
Barcelona are covering the majority of Marcus Rashford’s mammoth Manchester United wages during the England international’s loan spell at the Camp Nou.
Rashford reportedly agreed to take a pay cut last July in order to complete the stunning move to Barcelona after falling out of favour at Man Utd.
The Barcelona star had lost his place in the United XI under Ruben Amorim and had spent the second half of the 2024-25 Premier League season on loan at Aston Villa.
Aston Villa had the option to sign Rashford in a permanent £40m transfer deal in 2025, but the Premier League club did not exercise the option in the end.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Paul Scholes is convinced that Rashford will not play again for United, even if Barcelona choose not to sign him permanently this summer.
“I think his time’s done [at Man United],” he said.
“I saw his free kick the other night as well. It was brilliant. I don’t think he’s played a massive amount of games, but as you say, his numbers are quite good.”

What Paul Scholes feels about Barcelona star Marcus Rashford’s run at Man Utd before his Old Trafford exit
Barcelona have the option to make Rashford’s move permanent for £30.3m in 2026, but it remains to be seen if the La Liga club will trigger the option for the United star.
United legend Scholes admitted that it would be “quite difficult” for the Red Devils and Rashford to repair their fractured relationship after what happened at the club.
“When he was at Manchester United, I think he’d lost a bit of love for the club,” he added.
“He didn’t really want to be there. It looked like that to me at times. So, I think for that relationship to be healed will be quite difficult.”
Rashford has netted 14 times and registered 14 assists in 47 matches across all competitions for Barcelona in the 2025-26 campaign.
