Paul Scholes has provided his one worry ahead of Manchester United’s clash against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag goes into the game needing a win by whatever means necessary to keep Manchester United’s hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League alive.

With just one win from three Champions League games so far, it’s not inconceivable that the Red Devils may well need to win their final three games of the group to qualify.

However, what is more likely, United will need to win in Denmark and Turkey to essentially ensure their smooth passage into the last 16.

Scholes on his United worry

Speaking to TNT Sport, Paul Scholes has provided his one worry about United ahead of the game in Denmark and it’s hard to disagree with the former midfielder.

“They’re in big trouble,” Scholes said. “The Galatasaray game is a big regret. You should never lose to a team like that at home. The way United were playing, confidence was low – it wasn’t a big surprise.

“They were very lucky at home against Copenhagen, they didn’t play very well at all. They have half a chance of qualifying.

“It’s so hard going to Copenhagen, these European away games are tough. If they make it a hostile atmosphere, you have to worry about the frailty of Manchester United – they could really crumble under that pressure, that’s my big worry.”

United’s poor away form

One of the sticks that has been beaten over the head of Erik ten Hag since he joined the club is his poor form away from home for the Red Devils.

United failed to win any of their away games against the top nine sides in the Premier League last season, and crashed out of the Europa League away to Sevilla, and that has continued into the Champions League this season.

The 4-3 loss to Bayern Munich was a topsy-turvy encounter but nevertheless, the Red Devils need to start improving their away form and fast.

Traditionally, United struggle against hostile atmospheres but that will need to change when they take on Copenhagen and Turkish champions Galatasaray in their next two Champions League fixtures, two typically combative environments to play in.
