Manchester United legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt were both on the same wavelength about one “cringy” part of their legacy at Old Trafford.
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt spent their time together in the Manchester United academy before breaking into the first team in the 1990s under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Butt enjoyed a successful spell at Old Trafford and lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two FA Cups under United legend Sir Alex Ferguson.
The 49-year-old former United star, who made 385 appearances for the Red Devils, left the Premier League club in 2004 and signed for Newcastle.
Scholes, on the other hand, spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford across two separate spells and was a linchpin midfield figure for Ferguson.
The 49-year-old former England international is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time after his legendary career at the Red Devils.
Scholes lifted a whopping 11 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, three FA Cups and two League Cups with United.

Scholes and Butt talk Man Utd label
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt were two of the breakout stars from the ‘Class of ‘92’ alongside the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville and Gary Neville.
The aforementioned members of the Class of ‘92 enjoyed major success under Sir Alex Ferguson, including lifting a famous treble in the 1998-99 season.
Speaking on the Football’s Greatest Eras podcast, Scholes asked former United teammate Butt about the Class of ’92 and his feelings on being labelled with it.
Scholes admitted that he didn’t like the Class of ’92 label associated with him, while Butt felt the same way and suggested that he would “cringe” when he hears it come up.
“Did you like that, Nick? I didn’t like that,” he said.
Responding to Scholes, Butt said: “No, I didn’t like it.”
Scholes added: “I don’t like it now.”
When discussing the Class of ’92, Butt continued: “I cringe when I hear it. But it is what it is. It’s what we’ve been known for since we all came through with Sir Alex Ferguson.
“And yeah, it’s something that I do cringe about and it just becomes something probably bigger than it really was, if I’m honest with you.”
Scholes and Butt on the Class of ’92
Butt and Scholes were among the standout success stories from the Class of ’92, but there were other players who failed to achieve the same success under Ferguson.
Scholes admitted that he felt bad about the players who did not make it at United like himself, with Butt echoing similar sentiments as his former teammate.
“Do you know why I feel bad about it? ‘Cause there was like another 10 or 15 of us the same year,” he said.
Butt added: “Yeah. I also think it seems like we were the ones that won it, but if it wasn’t for older pros and the more experienced players, there would’ve been no Class of ’92, I’d say.
“But yeah, a bit cringy for me, but it is what it is and that’s what we’re known for and embrace it I would say.”
