Paul Pogba coming out with cryptic statements over his future has become a staple of international breaks over the past few seasons, to the frustration of Manchester United supporters.

But on this occasion, he was pretty candid about how he felt, and United fans will give him a ‘free pass’.

Pogba has rejoined the France squad and says he is ‘happy’ to do so, needing a change of scene.

Pogba had fallen victim to a burglary in Manchester while the team were defeated in the Champions League last week, an very more upsetting personal circumstance to have to deal with.

The return to France gives Pogba a much-needed break, admitting ‘the last few days obviously haven’t been easy’.

Pogba’s future at Manchester United is uncertain with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The Telegraph reported last week he is preparing to leave the club as a free agent, and let’s face it, a burglary is not going to help, especially when he is ‘half out the door’ in any case.

There is a fair chance we see a few transfer links between Pogba and top European teams over the break, as these matches are an opportunity for the midfielder to market himself and get into the shop window.

France have already qualified for the World Cup, and this week he has a friendly match against Ivory Coast, where he will go up against pal Eric Bailly. That is a game to keep the smile on Pogba’s face.

They then host South Africa in another friendly next week, and Pogba will surely return to Carrington in good spirits for what looks set to be his final few weeks as a Manchester United player.
