Paul Merson has had his say on Manchester United v Crystal Palace as they gear up for a second battle in days. He has also tipped one man as the key for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Manchester United and Crystal Palace will get a sense of deja vu on Saturday at 3pm as they are set for a second meeting in five days.

On Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, Erik ten Hag‘s side were far too good for Roy Hodgson’s Eagles.

But Palace will now get a second shot at claiming United’s scalp at Old Trafford, but their chance looks slim.

This is the view of pundit Paul Merson anyway who can’t see anything but a United win.

Merson predicts Manchester United v Palace

In his predictions column for Sportskeeda, Paul Merson has predicted the next round of Premier League results, including the game at Old Trafford.

Here is what he said as he predicted a 3-0 win for United: “This is a repeat of the Carabao Cup clash in midweek and surely Palace can’t be as bad as they were? I don’t see anything but a Manchester United win here and I think they’ll win by the same scoreline.

“Erik ten Hag and co have a bunch of winnable games coming up and are already on a run of successive wins across two competitions. I expect them to make it three wins from three, they are far too good for Palace regardless of their troubles in the early weeks of the season.”

Continuing he also tipped one player as the key player for the upcoming game.

“Alejandro Garnacho played well in the Carabao Cup game and got himself a goal. I’ve said earlier that he’s better off coming off the bench, but after his goal in midweek, I think he’ll start this game.”

Garnacho to be key

Garnacho started in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday and got his first goal of the season as he latched onto a cross.

His goal was the opener but that isn’t what has left people raving about his display.

Garnacho was heavily involved in play as seen with his 58 touches and 41 passes from left-wing.

His work-rate has also attracted praise as he hunted down Palace players after losing the ball.

It was this that has many hoping he starts, due to the disinterested performances which Marcus Rashford has put in recently.

It is yet to be seen if Garnacho plays on Saturday from the start, but we wouldn’t be opposed to it.
