Manchester United are coming off a tricky week of three away games, and now have three home matches.
Playing at Old Trafford no longer looks like the guaranteed win it did for Erik ten Hag‘s Manchester United last season, when the club went unbeaten at home after the first game of the season.
This season United have lost home matches to Brighton, Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Manchester City and Newcastle, meaning home ‘advantage’ is not exactly providing the edge it did 12 months ago.
United’s awful away form is under scrutiny too, meaning a win is essential against Chelsea this week.

Manchester United’s next three fixtures
Manchester United are home for the next three games:
- Chelsea (6/12) 8.15pm
- Bournemouth (9/12) 3pm
- Bayern Munich (12/12) 8pm
Paul Merson predicts results
Pundit Paul Merson is forecasting a spectacular high scoring game against Chelsea this week, and told Sportskeeda he is calling a 3-3 draw.
He explained: “Chelsea haven’t been great defensively, and Man United are all over the place. They let in three goals against Galatasaray and could’ve conceded ten against Newcastle. I’m going to go in swinging with my prediction for this game – I expect a high-scoring draw.”
He also believes that Manchester United could get two wins in the upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth and Bayern.
Merson said: “I do think they’ll beat Bournemouth, however, and they could do well against a Bayern Munich side that has already qualified for the Round of 16.”
He did warn, however, that lose all three, and it will start to look grim for Erik ten Hag, with away games to follow against Liverpool and then West Ham, before Aston Villa at home and Nottingham Forest away to round off the month.
