Patrick Dorgu is set to play in his first European Cup final when Manchester United travel to Bilbao to take on Tottenham in two weeks.

Manchester United beat Athletic Club 3-1 at Old Trafford and 7-1 on aggregate to secure a place in the Europa League final.

Ruben Amorim’s side made light work of the semi-finals after beating Athletic Club 3-0 in the first-leg, after Ernesto Valverde’s side were reduced to 10 men.

As a result, United are the only unbeaten team left in the competition. It’s a record they will be looking to keep for at least one more match as that would secure qualification to the Champions League for next season.

Thursday gave United fans another night to remember at Old Trafford, but now it’s about going all the way and winning the competition outright.

Patrick Dorgu’s agent celebrates Man Utd reaching Europa League final

Since joining United in January, Patrick Dorgu has made 16 appearances, primarily as a left-wing back.

The Denmark international has learned a lot in that time – from being sent off in his fourth game for the club to reaching his first European Cup final.

Dorgu was United’s main attacking threat in the first-half on Thursday night after troubling Athletic Club’s defence with his blistering pace.

The Europa League final presents Dorgu with a golden opportunity to win his first major trophy, and hopefully it’s the first of many that he lifts in a United kit.

Kings Odbodo, who represents Dorgu, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message for his client. It read: “Thank you, my boy, for listening, staying humble, and learning through all the mistakes.

“We are now in the final and we can only get better. You are a baller boy.”

At the age of 20, to be a European champion would be some achievement. It may show Ineos are steering in the right direction to build for the future with promising players like Dorgu.

What’s next for Patrick Dorgu?

Dorgu will be available for selection when United host West Ham on Sunday.

Amorim may decide to rest players between now and the Europa League final, and in that case he will be mindful of the fact Dorgu played 90 minutes against Athletic Club.

United have another Premier League fixture – against Chelsea – after West Ham, before they set off on their travels to Bilbao.

Despite his age, Dorgu will be one of the first names on Amorim’s teamsheet in Bilbao as long as he can avoid any fresh injuries in the next two weeks.
