Manchester United wing-back Patrick Dorgu was among the first to pay tribute to his former physio after his sudden death.

One of the first changes Ruben Amorim made at Manchester United was the implementation of his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation.

Since the system is reliant on wing-backs, it didn’t help that he started life at Old Trafford without any. Amorim was forced to shoehorn players into the role, on both flanks, until United signed Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in a deal worth £25.5m plus £4.2m in add-ons.

Dorgu, 20, has shown clear signs of improvement on the left, but he has yet to register his first goal contribution for the club. He hopes to change that before the end of the 2024/25 season as the Red Devils aim to go all the way in the Europa League.

The Denmark international is still adapting to the English game and has plenty of time on his side to develop into an even better wing-back at Old Trafford. Though it is worth noting that Dorgu has already proven himself in a top league at a young age, after emerging from Serie A side Lecce.
