Patrice Evra will be made to wait for his mixed martial arts debut after announcing his desire for a fresh challenge in April.

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has had no shortage of experiences since hanging up his boots in 2019.

The French World Cup winner spent eight years at United, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League and three League Cups.

Life after football hasn’t been so bad for Evra, becoming an internet sensation while posing as a pundit for multiple broadcasters. The 43-year-old has also featured on popular shows such as A League of Their Own and Netflix series Inside.

Two weeks ago, Evra announced plans to become an MMA fighter.

Those plans have suffered a setback, with the date for Evra’s fight postponed and no clarity over when he will enter the cage.

Patrice Evra MMA debut delayed until further notice

Evra was scheduled to fight at PFL Europe Paris at the Accor Arena on 23 May.

The former United left-back has already performed on the world’s biggest stages, winning every major trophy in football, but his dream of becoming an MMA fighter emerged last month.

Sadly, those plans have been stalled as Evra’s MMA debut has been postponed to a later date yet to be announced.

The PFL claim Evra has been training in combat alongside MMA star Cedric Doumbe.

“I’ve been training alongside the best in the world for years, and they’ll also tell you I’m ready for this,” Evra told AP.

Evra was hoping to fight former Liverpool player Luis Suarez, although the Uruguayan has yet to show a mutual interest in fighting a man he had encountered in a race row back in October 2011.

Suarez was charged with racially abusing Evra a month later, following a match between United and Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Evra goes viral after Arsenal’s Champions League exit

We weren’t kidding when we said Evra had become an internet sensation after retiring from football.

In his latest video to stun social media, Evra aimed at one of United’s rivals after watching Arsenal crash out of the Champions League semi-finals.

After losing to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta’s wait for a first trophy has lasted five years, and Evra was ready to rub salt into their wounds.

“I feel sorry for Arsenal, I think people are being really hard on them. I love Arteta anyways, Mikel is a good friend,” Evra said.

“I think people have no problem actually with Arsenal’s players, people have a problem with their fans, they believe anything. I even say I’m not sure I would do business with an Arsenal fan because they would give you a lot of promises but never actually…

“It’s banter, people say I am anti-Gunners but I love Arsenal, you can’t hate your babies, it’s impossible.”

Evra went a step further by making an X-rated example of what it must feel like to be an Arsenal fan.

He added: “An example is like, imagine you have a good time with your wife, your girlfriend, your fiancée or whatever, and you enjoy it, oh la la, and the moment you are about to put some seed, someone grabs your j—.

“It’s really painful, and you get really frustrated, because you want to put the seed to have a Premier League or Champions League baby, but it’s always the same story.

“So I hope for you that United, Tottenham or Chelsea don’t win a trophy because it’s going to be terrible.”
