Patrice Evra has joked that Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer must not be a real Manchester United fan having scored at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
United hosted Chelsea on Wednesday night and managed to produce a 2-1 victory.
Scott McTominay opened the scoring for United before Cole Palmer drew the Blues level.
McTominay and United weren’t to be denied though as the Scot headed home to give United a crucial three points after a turbulent few days.
Patrice Evra comments on Cole Palmer after scoring against Manchester United
Palmer’s goal was talked up on Amazon Prime Video with presenter Gabby Logan marvelling at his journey.
Born in Wythenshawe and a product of the Manchester City academy, Palmer would have enjoyed scoring against United.
It was also added that Palmer is actually a boyhood United fan – something which didn’t impress pundit and former United left back Patrice Evra.
The Frenchman jokingly suggested that this wasn’t a great moment for Palmer at all, as he had actually let United down.
Evra added that he wants a talk with Palmer’s parents whilst claiming that the playmaker can’t be a ‘real’ United fan having played for City and scored against the club on Wednesday night.
“I think it’s not a great moment,” joked Evra. “I think he let us down! I need to talk to his parents! He grew up a United fan, you end up playing for City and you score a goal against United? He must not be a real fan,” he added.

What has been said about Palmer supporting United?
The Daily Mail noted in November that Palmer grew up a United fan.
Former City defender Nedum Onuoha confirmed that last month too, highlighting that Palmer would have loved scoring for Chelsea against City at Stamford Bridge.
Palmer also told the Chelsea official website that there is a mix of United and City fans in his family, confirming that some of his friends would be in the home ends at Old Trafford for the Chelsea clash.
Palmer danced away from United defenders to slot past Andre Onana but offered a relatively low-key celebration in front of the Stretford End.
The England international may still harbour dreams of playing for United down the line, and he can maybe expect to hear from Evra if the chance ever arises.
