Manchester United’s signings have been good this season, and Patrice Evra has claimed surprise at Rio Ferdinand’s one prediction coming true.
The best thing Ineos have changed at Man Utd is the pivot in the transfer market, where there is a proper sense of planning and purpose.
Despite approaching last summer with no European football, Man Utd signed four senior players, all of whom have been successful to varying degrees.
However, one signing still surprised Patrice Evra, but Rio Ferdinand saw it coming.

⭐ Four brilliant signings!!!!
Patrice Evra surprised by Matheus Cunha
The hopes were high when Matheus Cunha became United’s first summer signing, but it was accompanied by cautious optimism.
Cunha had done well as the maverick at Wolves, but would he be equally as effective when asked to be part of a squad?
Now that we’re nearly at the end of the season, Cunha has answered those doubts emphatically by becoming the consummate professional, while keeping his maverick traits intact.
When he signed for the club, Evra didn’t think he was very creative in his playing style, instead seeing him as more of a goalscorer.
Ferdinand said at the time that Cunha creates as well, and Evra is surprised that Ferdinand’s prediction has come true.
Evra said [Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel]: “[Cunha] I’m really surprised the way [he has done]. Remember, I talked with you, Rio, before he signed, and you said what you think is that he creates chance as well. Actually, he creates so many chances now.”
Cunha’s form is a result of Ineos’ philosophy
Evra is not the only one pleasantly surprised by Cunha, and that’s because the Brazilian never really showed this side of his game before he arrived at Old Trafford.
What is Matheus Cunha’s best position?
Let us know where you want to see him playing for Man Utd…
Cunha has expanded his game immensely in less than a year at the club, which is explained by Ineos’ philosophy of only signing players who are completely committed to the club.
Cunha wants to play and succeed at this club, so he’s doing everything it takes and everything the manager asks of him, without sulking.
Contrast that with someone like Jadon Sancho, who couldn’t be bothered once he faced the simple inconvenience of switching his ideal position.
Ineos’ philosophy will pay dividends like this in the future as well. Hopefully, the days of United being looked at as a black hole for talent are over.
