Patrice Evra gives verdict on Manchester United’s dramatic draw v Galatasaray

Manchester United were unable to see out a win and beat Galatasaray despite twice holding two goal leads.

In three Champions League away games, Manchester United have scored nine goals. Yet, somehow, the team has taken just one point from these matches.

If you are going out, then it is better to go out swinging, perhaps. But this only leaves us wondering ‘what might have been?’.

Whether it be silly mistakes, poor game management, or sheer bad luck, Manchester United are heading towards Champions League elimination.

Patrice Evra gives heartbroken verdict

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra still supports the team he won the Champions League with in 2008, and he was left crestfallen by the failure to beat Galatasaray.

United were 2-0 up, then 3-1 up, and then drew the game 3-3. A point was enough to keep some faint hope of qualification, but barely.

Evra responded to a post on United’s Instagram page at full time, saying it would have been easier to take a terrible performance and a defeat.

He wrote: “I prefer my team to play bad and loose this game than playing soo well and draw this game absolutely heartbroken 💔 FOREVRA RED ❤️”

Defensive errors

There is a feeling Manchester United once again did not get the result the performance deserved, like in Copenhagen. But how many times can you really say that and mean it?

At some point, you have to look at the reality of the situation, and staring at the low tally of four points, it just is not good enough.

The match at home to Galatasaray was the one United really should have won, more than any other. You have to win the games at Old Trafford. But last night’s draw is still fresh in the mind, and it feels like another major missed opportunity.
