Manchester United have been busy in the transfer market, landing three attackers.

After a truly awful 2024/25 season, Manchester United needed to do something dramatic, and a true overhaul has been taking place this summer.

Unwanted players are on their way to being booted out, once sellers can be found, and there has been substantial investment in the team’s attack – the biggest weakness.

Serious money has been invested in two proven Premier League players, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, along with a young striker rated as one of the best in Europe, Benjamin Sesko.

Among the trio, Bryan Mbeumo is generating a lot of excitement ahead of the season kick-off against Arsenal on August 17.

Owen Hargreaves praises Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo was one of the players brought up for discussion in TNT Sports‘ Premier League season preview.

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves was one of the analysts asked about Bryan Mbeumo, and was asked to grade the signing.

Hargreaves clearly has high hopes for the former Brentford man, and backs him to hit new levels with his move to Old Trafford.

He graded the deal as a 9/10 for Manchester United, adding: “20 goals last season, seven assists, Man United need goals.

“And he’s only 25, so he’s going to get a lot better, and he’s got a lot of time left.”

There were some other pundits without Manchester United connections who were not as enthusiastic.

Former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole only rated Mbeumo as a 7/10, commenting: “I think it’s where Man United need to be. They’re not shopping at the top, top, table any more, and I think he improves their team, so I think it’s a good signing.”

Ex-Liverpool forward Peter Crouch was a little more measured, grading ‘good signing’ Mbeumo 8/10 and adding that he ‘guarantees goals’.

Bryan Mbeumo welcomed with open arms

Bryan Mbeumo signed for Manchester United in late July and he has gone on to make two appearances in pre-season to date.

After his first appearance at Old Trafford against Fiorentina, club captain Bruno Fernandes reached out to say: “Welcome to your new home!”

Former star Gary Neville named Mbeumo in his Premier League team of the season for 2024/25 after his performances for Brentford.

Mbeumo impressed on a consistent basis, and he raises the floor of this Manchester United team, along with Matheus Cunha, an outstanding performer with Wolves.

Sesko is the upside gamble United have taken, with Mbeumo and Cunha expected to be surefire hits.

The only question is whether they can hit the ground running straight away and get on target on their debuts.
