Ole Gunnar Solskjaer names the current Man Utd star he’d have loved to manage

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been speaking with Manchester United fans on Friday and he’s named one player he wishes he could manage.

Former Manchester United manager and club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been out of management for over two years now.

Despite his extended leave, he’s not lost his love for the game, or for United, regularly commenting on the ongoings at Old Trafford.

In his latest discussion, he’s named the one player currently shining for United, that he’d have loved to manage.

Ole wishes he could’ve managed Rasmus Hojlund

Ole was doing a meet and greet on Friday in which X user arnxvkhanna was in attendance and reported on the event.

He reports that Ole began to discuss his views on Rasmus Hojlund in which he admitted that the 21-year-old Dane is a player he’d have loved to have managed at United.

Continuing he explained that Hojlund is “quick, strong, humble and hardworking”, all traits which Ole can resonate with.

He added that comparisons to the Premier League‘s other blonde-headed striker Erling Haaland were inevitable because, “at the end of the day both threaten the backline with their physicality, work rate and shooting.”

This comparison looked ridiculous a few months ago but now Hojlund is on fire and found his feet, it makes so much sense.

Hojlund is exactly the striker Ole wanted at Manchester United

In Ole’s last summer in charge of United, he needed a striker and would’ve wanted one who fit into his plans and style.

Unfortunately for him, Ed Woodward instead panicked at the thought of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Manchester City and signed the Portuguese legend instead.

While the initial feel-good factor was incredible with Ronaldo coming home, it was completely the wrong move from United and set Ole up to fail.

Ronaldo derailed two years of building as with him in the team everything had to change. If Ole had gotten a Hojlund instead, we could have seen a vastly different last three years at United.
