Manchester United are now in a settled place under Ruben Amorim but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once looked like the promised man before it crashed and burned.
It’s all relative, however, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked with the club in seventh place and Man Utd could well finish this season at 17th!
Still, the bond he made with the players separated him and some, like Scott McTominay, Fred, Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes played the best football of their careers under him.
It was brutal, therefore, when Solskjaer revealed that he’s only heard from three players since he left Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer names three Man Utd players he’s heard from
By the time Solskjaer left the club, it was clear that despite his man-management skills, he had fallen out with many in the Man Utd squad.
That had become a common theme which is why Ruben Amorim is not getting unequivocal backing from the Man Utd fans because they’re tired of the same script repeating.
The fans’ worst fears are realised now that Solskjaer has revealed that for all the success he had at the club and his status as a legend, only three players have reached out to him since his departure.
Two are completely expected, while the third is a pleasant surprise.
He said (via BBC): “For me, Harry [Maguire] has always been a leader and a fighter. I was never in doubt when I signed him and he walked in the door he would be captain for us.
“There is another captain there in Bruno [Fernandes]. The two of them are top human beings. I was so happy for them last night [Europa League semifinal first leg].
“Those two and Victor [Lindelof] are probably the only ones I have heard from in the club since I left. You want the best for them.”
Solskjaer’s comments paint a brutal picture
It is what fans have theorised for a long time and it’s proven now that the Man Utd squad under previous managers weren’t as committed to the cause, especially by the end of Solskjaer’s time.
If the same question is asked to the likes of Ralf Rangnick or Jose Mourinho now, their answer would probably be even more brutal.
It is possible that this is why Erik ten Hag signed the players he knew previously to give himself a cushion after realising the reality of the players he inherited.
Ruben Amorim’s no-nonsense upholding of standards in the dressing room has been a breath of fresh air and it already looks to be paying dividends in terms of the atmosphere around the club.
Despite the results falling off a cliff, there are no reports of dressing room dissension or mutiny, a common occurrence for previous managers.
Solskjaer was done dirty by the squad and his comment proves it. Amorim is determined to not let it happen again.
