Noussair Mazraoui makes promise to Manchester United fans after Ruben Amorim arrival

Manchester United picked up a second win in a matter of days by beating Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Ruben Amorim won for the first time as Manchester United boss on Thursday night, beating Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League.

United’s focus shifted back to Premier League action on Sunday though as Everton visited Old Trafford.

This proved to be a fairly comfortable afternoon for United as Amorim’s men coasted home to a 4-0 victory.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both bagged braces as United racked up a big home win against the Toffees.

Zirkzee needed a boost to his confidence and that certainly came against Everton with the Dutchman hopefully able to kick on.

Noussair Mazraoui shares promise to Manchester United fans

Amorim will certainly appreciate a first clean sheet.

United were arguably fortunate to only concede once age Ipswich Town whilst Bodo/Glimt were able to find the net twice in the first half on Thursday night.

Keeping Everton at bay in this new three-man back line under Amorim will be a major boost and there is hopefully more to come.

Amorim’s new defensive setup features Noussair Mazraoui playing as a right-sided centre back.

United signed Mazraoui from Bayern Munich over the summer with plans to play him at right back or left back under Erik ten Hag.

Mazraoui has impressed as part of the back three though with Amorim praising Mazraoui as a ‘crucial’ player for the future.

The Moroccan has now told The Mirror that he believes big success ‘will come’ to Old Trafford, claiming that United are ‘too big’ to not succeed.

Mazraoui promised that United are ‘going to come back’ to the top of the game but pleaded for time and patience with new boss Amorim.

“I came here to win – and it will come,” said Mazraoui. “Manchester United is too big not to. Everyone here knows that, everybody sees that and everybody feels that – especially us as players.

“We are going to come back – and we are going to come back even harder. But I think that when you want to implement a new style of play that isn’t even close to how we played before, no-one can expect us to understand everything the manager has in his mind right from the start.

“So yes, of course, this is going to be a tough time – but come on, we are all top players and we play the game to win. Eventually we will get to wherever the coach wants us to be. We have unbelievable players, so of course we can adapt – and I think we are showing that. We have to get used to the new style, but I don’t think it will take too long – even if at the moment it is tough,” he added.

Ruben Amorim clearly a huge fan of Mazraoui

Mazraoui has arguably been the most impressive United player in the first three games of the Amorim era.

Amorim branded Mazraoui as ‘incredible’ following the win over Bodo/Glimt and it’s clear that the new United boss views Mazraoui as vital to his plans moving forward.

Mazraoui has praised Matthijs de Ligt for making life ‘easier’ for him in United’s back three but he deserves plenty of praise himself.

Strong enough defensively to hold his own at the back whilst being progressive with the ball, Mazraoui has the perfect blend for a modern right-sided centre back.

Amad Diallo has operated as a wing back but Mazraoui is able to step up and cover behind the Ivorian defensively, leaving Amorim with a potentially ideal blend on the right side.
