Noussair Mazraoui has been the definition of a Swiss Army knife for Man Utd, but he knows there’s one role he truly enjoys.
Despite a poor recent season, Noussair Mazraoui still managed to have some great games in different positions to stress his importance to Man Utd.
With the club playing in four competitions next season, that support and versatility will become priceless.
However, if it was up to the Moroccan, there’s only one position where there’s “less thinking, more enjoying”.

How would YOU rate Noussair Mazraoui’s 2025/26 season?
He ends the season with 20 appearances, 0 goals and assists…
Noussair Mazraoui’s favourite position
Mazraoui has, in many ways, become a victim of his own versatility, because he hasn’t been able to nail down a place in the team.
He can do everything well, but there are players who do position-specific things better than him, making him more of a squad filler instead of a specialist starter.
However, ask Mazraoui, and he’ll let you know that his versatility is a trait in addition to specialisation in a position, not in place of it.
That specialisation comes at right-back, where he made his name at Ajax and Bayern Munich.
Mazraoui said [via The National News]: Right full-back is my favourite position, my best position as well. That’s where everything goes automatic. When I get the ball, I know my options. I know what I can do, what I can’t do. I know how to defend. It’s less thinking, it’s more enjoying.”
The Moroccan is right, since he was a starter ahead of Diogo Dalot in his debut season, but lost steam last season due to injuries, and Dalot raising his game.
Mazraoui will remain a valuable squad player for Man Utd
On current form, it is unlikely that Mazraoui gets to play the position where he enjoys it the most, because Dalot has it locked down.
Which Manchester United player will have the most successful World Cup 2026?
Who are you most excited to watch?
However, as he showed against Chelsea last season, when he started at CB alongside Ayden Heaven, he can do a job for the team.
Those players are priceless who are effectively “plug-and-play” at any position on the pitch, always reliable to drop a 7/10 performance.
As long as he doesn’t want to seek a key player role elsewhere, United would be foolish to entertain offers for him, barring any crazy money offered.
There’s no problem if he’s thinking more when not playing as a right-back, because he’s one of the most technically smart and intelligent footballers in the game.
