Jadon Sancho missed out on a place in England’s World Cup squad, after his promising start to the season faded at the wrong time.
For reasons attributed to illness, Sancho did not feature in United’s final four games before the break.
It could be England’s loss, at least according to Brazil forward Neymar, who picked out the Manchester United forward as one of his favourite players in a fresh interview.
Neymar namechecked Sancho as one of two England players he really admires, in comments reported by The Telegraph.

Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil forward Neymar spoke of his admiration for Manchester United’s £73 million man.
Neymar said: “I really forgot about England but obviously they have a chance!
“I really like (Harry) Kane and (Jadon) Sancho. They’re two incredible players and I have a special love for them because I like players that have their qualities.”
Sancho is not part of England’s 26-man squad, although Manchester United teammates Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are.
It’s possible Neymar was not even aware Sancho had not made England’s squad for the tournament.
Former Dortmund winger Sancho started the season promisingly, scoring three goals, but was unable to add to his tally after the September international break.
Still only 22, there will be future World Cups for Sancho to shine at, if he can pick up his form and start to show why he is regarded as such as ‘incredible player’.
Alejandro Garnacho’s emergence places a little pressure on Sancho’s place at Manchester United, and while competition should bring the best out of him, he has to embrace it.
United do have a special talent, who is not quite performing at the consistent level he is capable of, and manager Erik ten Hag will have to look at how he can possibly bring out the best in him.
