Good news for Manchester United’s next owners
The latest set of financial figures are good news for Manchester United’s next owners, whoever they will eventually be.
The winning bidder can be optimistic they are buying a profitable club which is trending upwards, and also has Champions League football returning next season, which will boost broadcast revenue significantly.
Increased revenue also boosts what Manchester United are permitted to spend under Financial Fair Play guidelines.
United also continue to boast record match attendance and sales of global memberships.
All this points to a rosy future for Manchester United, commercially, and this is an important platform from which ambitious owners can invest into the team.
Two top bidders Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe both have offers on the table for Manchester United, while there is are minority investment investments on offer.
US trading website Benzinga last night tipped Sheikh Jassim as the expected new owner, reporting he is the ‘likely winner’.
If successful, he will be taking over a club which is operating well financially, and as part of his commitment to the club, he has pledged to wipe out the historic debt.
Manchester United did not acknowledge the ongoing takeover battle in any way, as part of the financial results.
