Nathan Bishop has responded to Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentinian wonderkid humiliated the goalkeeper with a Panenka penalty in a training session.

During Manchester United’s winter training camp in Andalusia, Spain, footage has emerged of Garnacho getting the better of Bishop with a deft spot kick.

While Bishop dived to his right, United’s boy wonder produced a deft little chip down the middle leaving Bishop feeling red-faced and crestfallen on the turf.

United’s number 49 couldn’t help taunting Bishop by tagging the goalkeeper in Manchester United’s Instagram post.

Bishop, who didn’t feature during United’s two friendlies against Cadiz and Real Betis, responded by laying down the gauntlet and said: “I will remember”.

Unlike Garnacho, Bishop is yet to make his official debut for the Red Devils.

But he’ll likely have a huge role to play in tonight’s EFL Trophy tie where Travis Binnion’s Under-21s take on League One side Bolton Wanderers for a spot in the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old has played the last three matches in the competition and he saved two penalties in United’s shootout win against Wolves’ Under-21s last time out.

Coming up against the likes of Garnacho in training and practising penalties with the former Atletico Madrid youngster will hopefully stand Bishop in good stead if tonight’s cup tie has to be settled by a shootout.

The former Southend United man, who joined the twenty-time league champions in January 2020, spent last season on loan with League Two side Mansfield Town.

The former England Under-20 international made 53 appearances for the Stags which included a play-off final defeat at Wembley.

Regardless of whether United’s Under-21s progress into the EFL Trophy last-eight, Bishop could well be one of several young Reds players that may be allowed out on loan next month.
