Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay scored two goals against Chelsea and should have had four.
There is always debate about how much Scott McTominay brings to the Manchester United team. When he is scoring, it is usually enough.
Last night he scored two goals to help the Red Devils to a 2-1 win over Chelsea, much needed with Bruno Fernandes uncharacteristically missing an early penalty.
McTominay’s impact-making display was enough to seal all three points. He also missed chances in both halves, and so could easily have netted more.

Scott McTominay praised
Speaking to MUTV at half-time, former star John O’Shea backed Scott McTominay to go and add to the goal he scored in the first half: “I can’t see Scott holding back, he’s been the top attacking threat at times.”
After watching him do so, O’Shea added at full-time: “Scott’s performance is all action, quality, disappointed not come away with the match ball. Real intensity. He’s a definite starter in the team going forward.”
His comments were echoed by former teammate Wes Brown, who raved: “He’s playing unbelievable at the moment, the runs into the box, he makes himself a nuisance, people can’t pick him up.”
McTominay now Manchester United top scorer
Scott McTominay has now moved to the top of the Manchester United goalscorer charts for the 2023/24 season.
He is on six goals, more than Bruno Fernandes (5) and Rasmus Hojlund (5), who has netted all of his in the Champions League.
McTominay will fancy a few more goals too. He is almost certain to start against Bournemouth this weekend, and then Bayern Munich await next week.
