MUTV pundit raves about ‘outstanding’ Manchester United midfielder in win v West Ham

Manchester United produced a strong performance to beat West Ham and midfielder Casemiro played a key part.

It may not have been a coincidence that Manchester United’s cleanest, most controlled performance of the season came with Casemiro in midfield.

The Brazilian has recently returned after more than two months out, and is working his way back to full fitness.

There are always high expectations on the five-times Champions League winner, which means any slight imperfection with his game or the team’s performance gets scrutinised.

Yet overall, his display in the 3-0 win over West Ham one was a very good one.

Casemiro praised after Manchester United win

Casemiro was picked out for praise by former Manchester United star Sammy McIlroy, who told MUTV he was happy with what the Brazilian brought to the team.

McIlroy said: “I thought he was outstanding today. He broke up play, he set United off on attacks, United really need him.”

Casemiro provided the assist for Manchester United’s first goal, getting the ball forward to Rasmus Hojlund, who netted his 10th goal of the season.

Casemiro numbers as Manchester United beat West Ham

Casemiro completed more passes than any player on the pitch, with 69 in total. He had 99 touches in total.

12 of his passes went into the final third, with four of six long balls complete.

Defensively he won two out of three tackles, made one block, one interception, and made five clearances.

United needed him in the away game against West Ham in December. This performance showed that if he had been available, he could have made a huge difference.
