There was plenty of reason for Manchester United fans to pay close attention to Morocco’s win over Scotland, including Noussair Mazraoui.
Ismael Saibari’s lightning-fast strike inside two minutes was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Morocco over Scotland at Gillette Stadium on Friday night.
Manchester United full-back Noussair Mazraoui played the entire match for the Atlas Lions.
Here, we take a look at how the Moroccan press reacted to Mazraoui after his latest 2026 World Cup display against Scotland.

How far will Noussair Mazraoui’s Morocco go at World Cup 2026?

Mazraoui backed up his solid performance against Brazil in Morocco’s World Cup when he took to the pitch against Steve Clarke’s Scotland.
In a stadium packed with Moroccan fans, they struck early, giving the Scots little to no time to settle in before the African nation made the difference.
The 1-0 result means Morocco has four points from their first two group matches, which is enough to secure a place in the round of 32.
Far from being content with the fastest goal scored at the World Cup, Mazraoui continued to attack down the flank – but maintain his discipline defensively at the same time – as Morocco kept possession by stringing passes between each other.
After the game, Moroccan outlet Sport Le 360 heaped praise on the United full-back, giving him a rating of 7.5/10 for his display.
The United star was hailed for his defensive interventions that helped keep Scotland at bay.
“Imperious in his defensive interventions and remarkable for his game intelligence, he perfectly controlled the majority of his one-on-one duels. Always well-positioned, accurate in his choices, and valuable on the ball, the Moroccan full-back was able to anticipate situations and make the right decisions, even under pressure.
“Solid defensively, he also contributed to the build-up play thanks to his technical quality and composure. From start to finish, he gave the impression of controlling every detail on his flank, both defensively and offensively.”

Which one of these World Cup legends would have been the best signing for Man Utd?
Noussair Mazraoui’s discipline and experience still of value to Man Utd
At 28, Mazraoui is not a regular in United’s line-up because Diogo Dalot is the first-choice right-back.
Mazraoui is a solid back-up option and he is versatile enough to come in at other positions across the back four – like he is showing at the World Cup for Morocco.
Although Mazraoui didn’t get the minutes he would have wanted under Michael Carrick throughout the last five months of the past season, there will be many opportunities for the Moroccan in the 2026/27 campaign.
It bodes well that Mazraoui has experience playing in the Champions League after his time at Ajax and Bayern Munich.
Mazraoui is now bringing that experience to the Moroccan national team.
