Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has reportedly told Inter Milan he wants to move to the Italian club.

Mkhitaryan has been out of favour after a period of poor form and it is widely expected that he will be allowed to leave Old Trafford as manager Jose Mourinho looks to increase funds and create an extra space in the squad.

Football Italia claim that the Armenian has given the Italian club ‘the green light’ and suggest that it may even be a loan deal. That seems incredibly unlikely, with Mourinho looking for capital, though his comments last week do seem to suggest he would not be averse to a permanent deal should the right offer arrive.

Mkhitaryan arrived at Old Trafford with the reputation as one of European football’s most creative players but has struggled to make that sort of imprint in the Premier League. His best form for United has come in European competition and it was indeed his form in last season’s Europa League that had many believing his long term future at the club was secure. However, even his goal in the final against Ajax doesn’t appear to have persuaded the manager that his inconsistent form is worth persevering with.
