Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been ‘really impressed’ with how Erik ten Hag has turned things around at Manchester United.

The Red Devils will be hoping to close the gap on the Gunners, who sit top of the Premier League, to five points when the two sides meet at The Emirates stadium tomorrow.

Having beat Arteta’s side 3-1 win at Old Trafford back in September, Ten Hag’s men are the only side to beat the north Londoners in the top-flight so far this season.

Having been bottom of the league after the first two games of the season after crushing defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford, Ten Hag has dramatically turned things around at the Theatre of Dreams.

Since being battered 6-3 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in October, the Reds have lost just one of their last 20 matches, a run in which the Dutchman’s side have won 16 games.

While Arteta has been in the Arsenal hot seat since December 2019, both Ten Hag and the former Manchester City assistant manager are showing encouraging signs of getting the fallen giants back to the top once more.

Ten Hag was appointed United’s manager off the back of the club experiencing their worst season in Premier League history.

Both Arsenal and United missed out on Champions League qualification last season and instead had to settle for Europa League football.

But with the Gunners five points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand, and third-placed United six points ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand on Antonio Conte’s side, it’s clear that Arteta and Ten Hag are the right men for the jobs.

Ahead of tomorrow’s blockbuster Super Sunday clash, Arteta spoke in glowing terms about the job Ten Hag is undertaking at Old Trafford when asked about the Dutchman’s tenure at Old Trafford.

Speaking in his press conference, Arteta said: “Really impressive. I think he’s turned things around pretty quickly.

“He has implemented a very clear way of playing. I think the players seem like they’ve bought into it, they have really good energy around the place.

“And a lot of things have changed in a very short period of time so credit to him and and the coaching staff for what they’ve done.”
