Michael Carrick is making a strong case to remain Manchester United head coach beyond this season, with staff impressed by the 44-year-old’s approach to working with the team.
Manchester United have big decisions to make over the coming weeks.
Ineos are tasked with deciding who will be the head coach next season, as well as targeting players who will help take the team to the next level.
Carrick has helped guide United to contention for Champions League qualification, with the Red Devils sitting third in the Premier League, having five games left to play.

Michael Carrick impressing Man Utd staff
United have learned that former players make good interim coaches, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carrick being prime examples.
However, Carrick has downplayed comparisons to Solskjaer, stating that the team is in a different place now than it was in 2021 when he was sacked as manager.
Speaking on the latest Talk of the Devils podcast, Laurie Whitwell explained the unique trait United staff like about Carrick.
“What he obviously does have and what people that I speak to at the club appreciate is a real understanding of Manchester United, a real connection to the different departments,” Whitwell said.
“And then obviously on the pitch, that’s where it really matters. He’s then got results.
“Okay. You can certainly point to some aberrations, Leeds being a clear one, and that was, that felt a bit bumpy, maybe, Bournemouth, Newcastle.
“So maybe there’s a theory, you know, he’s very good in the big games.
“Can you do it against the sort of lesser opposition? I think that’s a sort of fair question to ask.”
Carrick and his team will get a chance to prove themselves against lesser opposition on Monday night when they take on Brentford in their next Premier League outing.

Man Utd seek revenge against Brentford
Dropping points against teams United should be beating is not a new issue for this team.
It doesn’t stem solely from Carrick, who has enjoyed more good results than bad ones.
In September, Ruben Amorim took his United side to Brentford before losing 3-1.
Benjamin Sesko scored the only goal for United, but it wasn’t enough to deal with the goals from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen.
