Michael Carrick has had an immediate impact on Manchester United, leading the Red Devils to victory over Manchester City.
Old Trafford was stunned into celebration as Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu’s goals fired Manchester United to victory over Manchester City.
Despite dominating for the entire game, the scoreline ended up flattering City as United won the game 2-0, making a statement for the remainder of the season under Michael Carrick.
Casemiro was a standout for United in midfield, earning praise from Gary Neville. However, for Carrick, it was another player who deserved to be picked out.

Michael Carrick praises Kobbie Mainoo’s performance vs Manchester City
After being underutilised all season by Ruben Amorim, his exit has seen the career of Kobbie Mainoo revived.
Mainoo started in the defeat to Brighton, and now got his first league start of the season against City.

Mainoo played really well in United’s win, dictating play and winning duels in a very complete midfield performance, which led to Carrick heaping praise on the 20-year-old, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“Kobbie Mainoo was great alongside Casemiro. They gave us a foundation really – with Licha and Harry”.
“I felt it was a game for experience and knowing what it feels like. It was a bit of a calculated gamble to see if Mainoo could get through it”.
Mainoo really put his name back in the headlines with this outing, and we expect this is only the beginning. After the game, United fans were hailing Mainoo’s performance, and for very good reason.
Mainoo didn’t let Carrick down, and going forward, we expect he will be among the first names on the teamsheet.
How would YOU rate Kobbie Mainoo’s performance vs City out of 10?
Mainoo’s Manchester United career looks bound for legend status again
For the past few months, it has looked inevitable that Mainoo’s time at United was ending, with Amorim not rating him and giving him very limited game time.
Mainoo looked set to leave United in January, with the ‘free Kobbie Mainoo’ situation escalating the scenario as he didn’t feature under Amorim again after this.
However, Carrick has immediately returned Mainoo to being a key part of this team, playing in his natural role alongside Casemiro.
Carrick is a fan of Mainoo, and after looking likely to follow in Marcus Rashford’s example, the young midfielder once again looks set to become a great at this football club.
