Micah Richards has said Marcus Rashford has been ‘mediocre’ this season so far but he can pull out big moments from nowhere.
Marcus Rashford has struggled this season so far for Manchester United, as the club endures its own issues.
His start to the season has been described as ‘mediocre’ by Micah Richards on The Rest is Football podcast.
This came following England’s 3-1 win over Italy, which also secured European Championships qualification for the Three Lions.
Rashford scored in the game but still attracted comment from Richards on the podcast.

“That’s the good thing about Rashford,” Richards said in response to the goal he scored, before continuing to mention the form this season, “he’s been mediocre by his standards this season.
“It always looks like it’s gonna happen for him but it’s not really happened for him at Man United so far [this season], in the game [vs Italy] it looked like he was going to have another one of those performances where things were not going his way, but he can just come alive.”
Following this, Richards praised Jude Bellingham for helping Rashford with the goal, insisting the midfielder played a huge part in making up Rashford’s mind for him.
“Bellingham made a run, which makes up the decision for Rashford to come inside and then to finish.”
Can the goal kick-start his season?
United’s number 10 often needs a big goal in his season in order to set-off a purple patch of form which will be a relief to Erik ten Hag.
So his goal against Italy has many hoping that he will show exactly that upon his return to club football this weekend.
Sheffield United will be concerned at the prospect of a re-energised and confident Rashford who could add to their woes.
Rashford with confidence can be unplayable and we fully expect to see him in form soon.
