Micah Richards believes Erling Haaland trumps four legendary Manchester United forwards.

Erling Haaland is no doubt one of the greatest players in the world right now. The Norwegian forward is an absolute goal-scoring machine.

He was integral to Manchester City’s treble-winning squad last season, finding the net 52 times in 53 appearances in what is a quite phenomenal return. If only Erik ten Hag could have lured him to the red side of Manchester.

Despite his short tenure in England – he’s evidently made big waves. But how does he compare to some Premier League legends, particularly those of Manchester United?

Micah Richards picks Erling Haaland over four legendary Manchester United forwards

In a recent Sky Sports YouTube video, Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge played a game of ‘winner stays on’ which ultimately decided who was the Premier League’s greatest ever forward.

The game was simple, Sturridge would pick a striker to go up against another, with Richards deciding who he ultimately thought was better.

Erling Haaland emerged as an early front-runner and managed to defeat four legendary United forwards in the process, which were:

Bold claim. Which we are not sure is ultimately true. Despite Haaland’s impressive stats, the longevity of these players certainly has to come into play.

Wayne Rooney was Manchester United’s record goalscorer and an absolute phenomenon of a footballer. Eric Cantona also redefined who Manchester United were as a club.

We’ll give Richards Andy Cole and Ruud van Nistelrooy…just, but the other two are dubious.

Did anyone beat Erling Haaland for Micah Richards?

One man did beat the Norweigan. Richards said the only player better than the City striker was Thierry Henry.

The Arsenal and French icon is argued to be the Premier League’s best-ever player by many – so it’s natural Haaland isn’t at his heights yet. In a few years… who knows?
