Erik ten Hag showed signs of wanting Jonny Evans back in September 2022 explains the Northern Irish international.
Jonny Evans played in Leicester City’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United back in September 2022, when Jadon Sancho scored the only goal.
Evans put in a typical performance which was assured, solid and showcased his IQ in football.
Now the 35-year-old has revealed that Erik ten Hag made a beeline to talk with Evans, who had left United in 2015.
After re-signing in the summer, Evans has now recalled that interaction with Ten Hag in an interview with United Review.

His verdict on Ten Hag encounter
Speaking with club media, Evans reflected on his first interaction with Ten Hag.
“He gave me a little bit of a jokey comment of ‘do you fancy coming back?’ So I was like ‘yeah, yeah, of course, no problem’. And it’s funny how things work out. I just don’t think either of us thought that would’ve ever have been a possibility.
“But I suppose maybe he thought, with my experience, and my experience of the club before, and the relationship I had with everyone here, it wouldn’t be a problem for me at this stage of my career, coming in and settling in. I’m feeling part of it and being able to provide something.”
Evans initially returned on a trial basis but has since signed a deal taking him through until next summer at his boyhood club.
Evans has been impressive
Despite looking average against Arsenal, Evans started v Burnley and was absolutely brilliant.
Rolling back the years he assisted Bruno Fernandes‘ goal with a long ball forward.
He also got praise from Rio Ferdinand for his defensive stability which is high praise.
Ultimately it seems as though Evans has fitted in at United like a glove and we wouldn’t be surprised if he continued his stay before becoming a coach at the club.
