Matheus Cunha has now been told the major benefits that both he and one first-team Manchester United player can now yield playing alongside one another.

The 26-year-old Brazilian attacker was a key target for the Red Devils, with Premier League side Manchester United landing Matheus Cunha from Wolves in June.

Cunha had a £62.5m release clause at the Molineux and United wasted no time triggering the buyout fee for the ex-Wolves ace early in this summer’s window.

The former Wolves forward took part in United’s pre-season tour of the United States and Europe across July and August under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.

Cunha has not scored or picked up an assist in his opening two Premier League matches for United, but the Brazil international has impressed with his displays.

The Red Devils summer signing is capable of playing in different positions in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system at United, including as the left-sided No 10 and up front.

What Patrick Dorgu has now told Matheus Cunha should excite Man Utd fans amid the new Premier League season

Matheus Cunha produced a strong showing in the first half of Manchester United’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

The former Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig attacker started the match up top and Cunha saw one of his strikes ricochet off the Fulham post early in the contest.

Cunha was influential for Wolves last season and produced solid numbers at the Molineux, with the Brazilian netting 17 times in 36 matches across all competitions.

Patrick Dorgu has highlighted the dynamic quality that could come from the left side of United’s tactical system if he and Cunha continue to build on their relationship.

“He’s really good at driving with the ball and getting past players,” he told BBC Sport.

“I feel my runs will help him to get more space to play.

“Obviously, it’s not only on the left side; we need to attack on both, but we do need to connect well.”

Patrick Dorgu tells Man Utd fans about the eye-opening side of former Wolves ace Matheus Cunha

Cunha caught the eye of United fans with his performance against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League season at Old Trafford.

The Brazil and United forward has settled in well at the Premier League club since his transfer and the expectations on Cunha’s shoulders are huge this season.

Patrick Dorgu admitted that Cunha is a very likeable figure at United off the pitch and his teammate does everything that he can to “engage with everyone.”

Speaking on Cunha, the 20-year-old United defender added: “I played against him [Cunha] and he had me once, when I got a yellow card.

“When he came, he was like, ‘Don’t kick me in training.’”

“He is a really public guy. He talks a lot and he’s really funny – he’s trying to engage with everyone so it’s easier to talk with him because he has a lot of energy.”

United will face Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening before returning to Premier League action at Old Trafford against Burnley on Saturday.
