Luke Shaw has sent an end-of-season message to Manchester United fans, prompting a reaction from Matheus Cunha.
It was a successful season for Manchester United, but it was a landmark season for Luke Shaw, who started all 38 Premier League games for the club for the first time.
Now that he’s also not going to the World Cup, he can rest and prepare for a gauntlet of four competitions next season.
Before signing off, however, he had a message for Man Utd fans, which prompted a great reaction from Matheus Cunha.

Shaw’s career at Old Trafford looked to be on borrowed time at the start of the season due to his injury record and contract situation.
He was in the last two years of his contract, on huge wages, and with reliability that frustrated Man Utd fans to no end.
Fast forward to the end of the season, and there’s a genuine argument to be made that United should enter talks for an extension provided the wage is palatable.
Shaw felt it too, as he signed off on the season with a bright and hopeful message.
He wrote on his Instagram: “Season done. Thank you for your constant support; it’s very much appreciated. Enjoy your summer.”
The Man Utd squad liked the post, from Kobbie Mainoo to Harry Maguire, but Matheus Cunha’s comment caught the eye.
The Brazilian is a popular member at Carrington, and he simply said “love you” in response to Shaw’s message, which received a lot of likes.
Cunha has developed a partnership with Shaw after being deployed on the left wing, and Shaw’s overlapping runs have contributed greatly to his form.
That will be something to keep an eye on next season, as Carrick’s style of play evolves closer to his ideal vision.

It seems cruel for a player who just played every single PL game, but Shaw is 31, has a history of injuries, and generally follows up good seasons with a poor one.

Therefore, United need to see a similar level of reliability from Shaw next season before he enters the same conversation as Harry Maguire did this season and warrants an extension.
He’s clearly still an elite player who can be of great use to emerging left-backs at Carrington as well, but for that to happen, he needs to stay fit and extend his peak.
He has lost a lot of time in his career due to injuries, so United would be wary of committing to him again on the basis of one good season.
Having said that, the early signs are good, and he has Patrick Dorgu and potentially Harry Amass to manage his minutes.
The next season is a judgement one for Shaw.
