Manchester United have received some long-awaited good news on the injury front concerning Mason Mount.
Manchester United have been ravaged by injuries all season long, with Erik ten Hag rarely, if ever, able to name his strongest starting XI during the campaign.
The manager has received a welcome boost on Tuesday morning, though, as midfielder Mason Mount has returned to training.
The 25-year-old has played just 12 matches since making the switch to Old Trafford from Chelsea in the summer.
Mount has been sidelined since November 11 with an unspecified injury but was pictured back at Carrington this week.
It’s a welcome boost for Ten Hag who currently has nine players unavailable.
United released pictures of Mount training alongside their update – however – these were actually taken in December 2023, before he suffered a setback.
This video, appeared more up to date, with Mount seen walking out at Carrington along with Diogo Dalot and Antony.

When Mason Mount might be back
Despite the promising update, it’s still not clear when Mount will be back in action.
It seems unlikely he will be fit to return in Sunday’s FA Cup tie with Liverpool.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of facing Everton, Ten Hag said Mount wouldn’t be back until after the international break.
“Mason Mount I think he is in a good spell now and he will return shortly,” he said.
“I think after the international break. For next week, some players are planning to return, hopefully when the process will continue like it is now.”

Mason Mount return is no immediate fix for United
With so many crucial players still sidelined, Mount’s return would be most welcome for Ten Hag.
The Dutchman is still without Rasmus Hojlund, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia and Omari Forson.
However, it’s hard to see where Mount fits into the side. Since his injury, Kobbie Mainoo has broken into the starting XI and the teenager is now one of the first names on the team sheet.
Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho are forming a good attack so there’s no room there, either, and replacing Casemiro could leave United even more overrun in midfield.
The only route for Mount at the moment would be to replace Scott McTominay in a central attacking position but that would only be until Hojlund is fit again.
Mount has got a lot of work to do to prove his worth.
