Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood is celebrating scoring his first La Liga goal.

Brandon Williams was not the only Manchester United player to find the scoresheet this past weekend.

Mason Greenwood was on the scoresheet for Spanish side Getafe. It was the first of his loan spell, and his first strike in almost two years, 628 days since his last goal for Manchester United away at Brentford in January 2022, prior to his arrest.

Greenwood now has one goal and one assist from five appearances for Getafe. Only two of those have been starts.

Mason Greenwood scored Getafe’s second goal to secure a 2-2 draw away at Celta Vigo. All four of the game’s goals came in the first half.

Greenwood played an hour before being substituted as Getafe made a tactical adjustment, holding on for the point.

His side were the happier of the two, with Greenwood’s goal denying a victory for old Manchester United foe Rafa Benitez, now the manager of Celta Vigo.

Greenwood had previously scored against Benitez’s Everton in a 4-0 win in pre-season in 2021.

The goal was an instinctive finish, with Greenwood scoring with a first time shot after a move from the opposite side of the box rebounded into his path.
