Mason Greenwood’s excellent season at academy level continued at the weekend.

The 17-year-old striker scored twice in a 7-0 victory over Sunderland for the under-18s.

It continued his impressive record which has now seen him score 13 goals in 10 games this season.

Greenwood has 11 goals in eight games for the under-18s, and a further two in two under-19 UEFA Youth League games.

The talented young striker started making a name for himself last season and featured for United’s first team on the pre-season tour of the US.

While that showed he still has some way to go to be ready for a regular first team role, Greenwood is doing everything which is asked of him and more for the academy.

He will get a chance this week to add to his CV when he faces Juventus in the UEFA Youth League.

Greenwood signed a professional deal with United earlier this month, committing his future to the club.

He will soon be asked to step up to the under-23s and if he continues to score at a prolific rate, first team opportunities may begin to open up.

It looks like United have a special young talent on their hands and as Marcus Rashford showed in 2016, when he is ready, he must get his chance.
