Martin Dubravka’s loan spell at Manchester United has come to an early end.
United announced today that Newcastle United have chosen to recall Dubravka from loan.
It’s unclear the reasons why, but it could simply be due to Newcastle’s strong form this season and reluctance to strengthen a competitor.
Dubravka has reacted, sending a message on social media.
He insisted he has enjoyed his time at Manchester United, and is now looking forward to contributing to Newcastle’s season.
Dubravka no big loss for United
United selected Dubravka to start only two matches, both in the Carabao Cup.
He played poorly in the recent win over Burnley, despite keeping a clean sheet, he was bailed out by his defenders.
The club still have Tom Heaton as back up to David de Gea, and he looked sharp in the recent winter friendlies, outperforming Dubravka.
It is unlikely United decide to look for an additional goalkeeper to replace Dubravka this transfer window.
