Dubravka says Cristiano Ronaldo was the first player to personally welcome him

Dubravka explained how he had a long chat with Cristiano Ronaldo and was made to feel very welcome.

He said: “I had the longest conversations with him on the entire first day.

“We had fun before training and then in the gym. He asked about my family, where I live and other common things. And above all, he started having fun first!

“I didn’t want to look like a fan and go after him right away, but it was very nice to talk to him about anything.”

The Slovakia international goalkeeper also talked about the facilities and attention that comes with a move to Manchester United.

He said: “When nothing was official yet, paparazzi were ready everywhere. Maybe I still needed to get my football boots from the car. I ran out of the black van and two seconds later I was being dragged back because suddenly it was full of cameras.

“On the other hand, the professionalism, the service to the players, that’s something unreal.”

Dubravka is yet to make his debut, with David de Gea preferred for Manchester United’s Europa League opener against Real Sociedad.

A bench place is likely again this week against Sheriff Tiraspol, with United expected to field a full strength team, with no match this coming Sunday. Dubravka will have to wait for his chance.
