Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford reportedly has certain transfer options on the table after Barcelona agreed to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
Barcelona stunned the world after it emerged that the La Liga club had hijacked Bayern Munich’s interest in Newcastle and England winger Anthony Gordon.
The Spanish champions have agreed a deal worth more than £69m for the 25-year-old Magpies star, which has now cast further doubt over Marcus Rashford’s future.
Rashford had spent the 2025-26 campaign out on loan at the Camp Nou after the 28-year-old England international left Manchester United last summer.

Miguel Delaney breaks down Marcus Rashford’s situation after Barcelona’s transfer move for Anthony Gordon
Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Gordon will be competing for the same starting role in England’s World Cup squad under manager Thomas Tuchel this summer.
Gordon’s decision to move to Barcelona over Bayern Munich is a spanner in the works over the Spanish club choosing whether or not to sign Rashford permanently.
The Newcastle winger is expected to finalise the formalities of his Barcelona move ahead of linking up with his England teammates at the World Cup in North America.
Journalist Miguel Delaney has now explained that Rashford’s biggest desire will be to sign for another “foreign” club that is playing in the Champions League next season.
“Also, they [Gordon and Rashford] operate in similar areas, which would lead you to think that Rashford now has to either look elsewhere,” he said on Sky Sports’ Back Pages.
“And he does want a Champions League club, and he’d prefer a foreign Champions League club, or a return to Manchester United, unless Barcelona can do something. But that just seems very unlikely right now.”

Manchester United included a permanent £30.3m transfer fee option for Barcelona to trigger over Rashford in 2026 if the England star impressed during his loan spell.
Rashford, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, netted 14 times and registered 14 assists in 49 matches across all competitions for Barcelona.
The United youth academy product signed off the 2025-26 campaign by lifting the La Liga trophy with Barcelona after the Spanish side’s successful title defence.
Rashford has been a key player for Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, who has used the Three Lions international on the left wing and down the middle for his side.
