England star Marcus Rashford has revealed that the Manchester United shirts he owned growing up featured the name of “only” one Red Devils legend.
Marcus Rashford has faced criticism this season over his run of form, with the Manchester United star scoring five times in 24 Premier League appearances.
The 26-year-old United forward was in the form of his life last season after he represented Gareth Southgate’s England side at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Rashford signed off the 2022-23 campaign by scoring an impressive 17 times and registered five assists in 35 Premier League appearances for United.
The Three Lions star, who scored 30 times in 56 appearances last season, has struggled to replicate his scintillating form in 2023 in the current campaign.
However, Erik ten Hag has kept faith in Rashford and the England international has remained a key part of United’s frontline in the 2023-24 season.
Rashford, who came through the club’s youth academy, played the full 90 minutes in United’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Sunday.
But the United forward’s first-half display against Luton Town was criticised by Peter Schmeichel, with the United legend also baffled by two other players’ performances.

Rashford talks up Man Utd legend
Marcus Rashford took to Instagram and posted a photo of himself as a kid wearing a Manchester United shirt, with the boyhood Red Devils fan tagging Ashley Leather.
“Bonus point if you can shoot the football into the hoop,” he wrote, adding a laughing emoji and tagging Leather’s handle.
An Instagram user decided to ask Rashford if he had a name on the back of his United shirt in the photo and the Three Lions international responded.
Rashford revealed that he “only ever” had one name on the back of his United shirts as a kid, with the England star picking none other than Wayne Rooney.
“I only ever had Wazza on the back of my shirts, so probably him,” he wrote in response to the fan.

Rashford sends message to another Man Utd legend
Rashford has spoken highly of Wayne Rooney in the past and admitted that the Red Devils’ all-time leading scorer was “one of my heroes” growing up.
“He [Rooney] was one of my heroes growing up and someone that I always used to enjoy watching, probably not just because he’s a top player but just his personality on the pitch,” he told Manchester United’s official website in 2023.
“He wants to leave everything out there and it’s just the small things that make up his qualities that he showed for many years.
“They were the things that appealed to me when I was younger and watching him, so it’s always great to be along the same lines as those types of players because it means you’re doing something right.”
Rashford shared his social media post on Instagram Stories and also sent a message to United legend Antonio Valencia.
“My bro always said I looked like a baby,” he wrote, tagging Valencia’s handle.
