Marcus Rashford explains why he is not satisfied after Manchester United’s 1-0 win

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford was not entirely pleased with Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Brentford.

On the face of it, this was a happy night for Manchester United. Brentford had the capability to spring an upset and had been on a good run of form.

Getting the three points, however it was done, was essential for United after a defeat to Newcastle at the weekend.

And that’s exactly what the Red Devils did, winning 1-0 thanks to a Marcus Rashford winner.

Marcus Rashford not satisfied

Speaking after the game via club media, Marcus Rashford, 25, explained that the narrow win did not entirely satisfy him.

He said: “It’s not as a nice feeling to win 1-0 as I would rather win 3-0.”

United fans would say the same. While the score remained 1-0 after Rashford’s 27th minute strike all the way until full-time, there was still a danger the three points could slip.

Erik ten Hag’s side dominated, holding 65 per cent possession. However, at times, this isn’t enough. We saw away at Crystal Palace how a 1-0 lead can be brittle, all it can take is one moment, to suddenly see it snatched away.

Fortunately on this occasion, United held out without too much trouble.

Rashford’s comments show the high standards he has, and a typical striker’s desire to simply bag as many goals as possible.

He played all over the attack, lining up as a nine, also dropping deep, and then switching back to the left when Anthony Martial was brought on.

With 28 goals to his name this season, Rashford is single-minded in his quest to net more, wherever he is playing.

He said: “‘It doesn’t change too much for me, I try to run in behind and find the space and also create spaces for other players on the pitch.

”Whether I am playing on the left, right or down the middle, the end goal remains the same to try to get goals and assists to help the team.

”A different position but not a different mindset.”
